The Legendary Hearts still play from time to time – and I love every minute of it when we do! But I also have a trio with Shari Ulrich and Tom Taylor BTU– a gem I cherish. We have a rambling, on the edge C&W 12 piece orchestra called The Cariboo Express that tours in the fall to raise funds for charities in Western Canada. In an additional project destined to drive my agent crazy… I’m part of a bluegrass band under the leadership of my good friend and long time musical mate Colin Nairne. We are called the High Bar Gang and we’ve released a CD on True North. It’s called Lost And Undone – A Gospel Bluegrass Companion. We are almost finished our second CD. This one is all about Cheatin’ and Hurtin’.

The High Bar Gang
2014 Juno Award Nominees
The High Bar Gang was formed in the spring of 2010 when band member Colin Nairne wanted to play his favourite bluegrass songs and called on his friends Barney Bentall, Shari Ulrich, Kirby Barber, Wendy Bird, Rob Becker and Dave Barber to join in. At first delivery, they knew they were a part of something very special. They named their collective and presented their double sell out debut concerts in September 2010.
Since then, The High Bar Gang has sold out 80% of their shows, hosted the 2011 BCCMA Hall of Fame Show, opened for Blue Rodeo, garnered 3 provincial award nominations in 2012, released their debut record LOST & UNDONE worldwide on True North Records in 2013 with glowing reviews and charted Top 30 on the CKUA radio charts, as well as #3 on the Top 10 national !earshot charts in the Folk/Roots/Blues format. In addition to being nominated for a Juno, we won Vocal Group Of The Year at the 2015 Canadian Folk Music Awards.
Each member of the The High Bar Gang brings substance and depth to the group, delivering a unique interpretation of some of the greatest classic and contemporary gospel, bluegrass, traditional country and Appalachian folk songs – timeless music for modern times.
